Job Description

We are a family of five in South Gate, seeking part time help in maintaining a high standard of personal care for our children. The purpose of this job is also to keep the home environment clean and safe for three kids who have dual diagnoses, Autism and ADHD. Since the children have these diagnoses, we qualify for funding through a special program that enables us to pay you through a financial management service, not in cash. In order to qualify for this job, however, you need have to have a clean criminal record, because this job title is "Personal Assistance" for three children, through the Department of Developmental Disabilities. You will use a time clock on your phone, so basic technical literacy is a must. You accrue sick pay and social security. Please show evidence of a high school diploma, or equivalent, from your country, completed at the age of 18 or above. If you can not produce this, please do not apply.
ABOUT THE KIDS
  • Children's ages and genders: 6 (boy); 8 (girl); 11 (boy).
  • Children attend school daily through LA Unified.
  • Children's hobbies and needs: fitness, swimming, baile
  • 25 hours of ABA therapy per week
ABOUT THE JOB
  • I need someone to help me wash clothing and set it into pre-arranged "grab and go" outfits. This is a big job. We don't fold the clothes , but rather, have pre-made outfits hanging and ready to go for the kids.
  • Toys need to be put away and and the home needs to be set up so that it can meet the kids' individual, exceptional needs, including rummaging, littering, scattering and wandering.
  • Children's indoor safety: Kids grab items for attention, many of which pose safety hazards. I need help deep cleaning the kitchen, corner by corner, to make it safe, hygienic and useable for the kids, but also for their therapies and for the Homework helper who comes in and needs appropriate working conditions.
  • We also need someone who can change out bedding, pillows, couch covers, etc, so that their ABA therapy personnel can come in and work comfortably in the home.
  • If you can not take direction from me, I do not want to employ you.
You might have a better, easier, faster or simply different way of doing things. Maybe you just can not stand me, and you don't want to do what I ask. I do not care. If you are too proud or feel entitled to shortcuts, please do not apply for this job. I will do just about anything for a reasonable person. But there are some things that I want done in particular ways, I have my reasons, and I am absolutely certain about why.
WHAT I DO NOT WANT
  • A personal maid for my kids, or direct service to my children. They are children. They do not give orders. We are here, to create an example, for children who need one in order to thrive.
  • Anybody who takes direction from my kids, or gives my children candy/treats/food/a toy or anything, unless you are operating in tandem with their Applied Behavior Analysis behavior plan, that is in place.
  • Rude or derogatory comments toward anybody working with these kids, including myself, their father, or the children themselves. 0 tolerance policy and I mean it. This job can be exhausting, which is why I am going to work next to you for your shifts. If you have to leave, do so. Clock out, come back and complete your shift later.
  • A childcare provider. We are hiring another individual with credentials to work directly with the behavior plan.
  • Someone who cheats, lies about their pay, or steals from this or any home. It is still theft, even if you "need the money," and "They will never notice." Trust me. We do notice.
  • Someone who takes shortcuts, stalls, or just plain doesn't do the job and collects the check.
Just be decent and honest and I will be here for you. If you are not leading an honest life, and you make excuses for dishonest and deceitful behavior, you are a bad influence so please do not apply for this job.

$24.92 per hour
