Job Description

Family Household Manager Fairfield Family Fairfield, CT Job Details Temporary | Part-time | Full-time | Contract | Internship $1,800 a month 16 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Flexible schedule Qualifications Hospitality English Driver's License Driving Laundry Organizational skills Communication skills Full Job Description Part-Time Household Manager / Assistant — NO KIDS Hello! We're looking for the right person to help us take care of our home and keep everyday life running smoothly. This is a part-time, long-term position for someone who is dependable, warm, organized, and genuinely enjoys making a home feel clean, comfortable, and put together. There are no kids in the household. The easiest way to describe the role is probably a mix between a household manager, housekeeper, and personal assistant. We're looking for someone hands-on who can become familiar with our home, our routines, and the way we like things done, and eventually know what needs attention without being micromanaged.
What the job looks like:
No two days will look exactly the same, but the routine will include things like: Keeping the home clean and tidy, including regular cleaning, dishes, laundry, linens, trash, and general upkeep Running household errands — groceries, returns, pickups, shipping, dry cleaning, restocking household essentials, etc. Organizing and decluttering closets, cabinets, drawers, storage spaces, and whatever other area has somehow become the place where everything gets put Keeping an eye on household supplies and noticing when things need to be replenished Helping with packages, deliveries, service appointments, and miscellaneous household projects Being comfortable communicating by text or call about household tasks, errands, and scheduling as needed Cooking experience, personal or professional, would be a major bonus! There will also inevitably be random little things that come up. Maybe something needs to be picked up across town, the pantry desperately needs reorganizing, or there's a project we've been meaning to get around to. We'd love someone who is comfortable with that variety and can help figure out what makes the most sense to tackle that day. The person we're looking for: More than anything, we want someone we can trust and genuinely enjoy having in our home. You'll be working independently and around our personal belongings, so reliability, honesty, discretion, and good judgment matter a lot to us. We'd especially love someone who takes initiative. If you notice we're almost out of something, something needs attention, or there's a better way to organize something, we don't want you to feel like you have to wait for us to specifically ask.
A few must-haves:
Fluent in English and a good communicator Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable personal vehicle Comfortable with dogs (we have two, both under 10 lbs and friendly!) Dependable, punctual, and comfortable working independently Detail-oriented and someone who genuinely takes pride in doing things well Looking for something consistent and ideally long-term Previous experience with housekeeping, household assistance, personal assistance, professional organizing, hospitality, or a similar role is preferred. References will be requested, and a background check may be required before starting.
Schedule & Compensation:
The position will generally be around 20 hours per week. We'd like to establish a fairly consistent routine together, while keeping some flexibility for the fact that household needs aren't exactly the same every week. Compensation is $1,800 per month, paid on the 1st of each month. You'll likely be provided with a card for household purchases and errands, so you won't regularly be expected to cover household expenses yourself. Gas used specifically for household errands will be reimbursed separately with receipts. Any additional hours, overnight house/pet sitting, or anything significantly outside the normal role would always be discussed separately ahead of time. Tell us a little about you: We don't need a formal cover letter. We'd much rather hear a little about who you are, your relevant experience, your general availability, what you're looking for in your next position, and why this particular job sounds like a good fit. And because personality and fit matter to us just as much as experience, we'd love for you to answer a few questions: 1. What's something around your home that you're weirdly particular about? 2. What is your favorite place you've traveled to and why? 3. If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be? 4. Tell us something about yourself that we'd never learn from your résumé. 5. Send us a song recommendation —
ANYTHING GOES!
We're ultimately hoping to find someone who becomes a familiar and trusted part of our household — someone who is easy to communicate with, takes pride in what they do, notices the little things, and genuinely wants to stick around. If you read this and thought, "Wait, I would actually be really good at this," we'd love to hear from you!
