Job Description

The Administrative Assistant acts as support to the Executive Assistant. The position supports the many different office and clerical duties of the church. The Administrative Assistant job description contains an assortment of duties including support to general office management. This position reports to the Executive Assistant. Position Responsibilities Answers and screens all incoming calls, routing them to the appropriate departments when available and taking messages as needed. Assuming assignments as delegated by the Executive Assistant. Completes clerical duties such as bulk mailings, copying, typing, printing, and folding, using a folding machine. Additional Mail correspondence as assigned Maintains an orderly and clean office and filing system. Publishes two weekly church bulletins. Collaborate with the Pastor and Choir Director to receive weekly liturgy and musical selections. With input from the Pastor create bulletin covers and worship slides for the Tech Team using Canva. Maintain and update Worship Plan and Worship Elements using Goggle Sheets. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Able to work at a fast pace and adhere to weekly deadlines. Is able to work independently. Is a self-starter with an innovative approach to administration and a keen eye for detail. Ability to prioritize responsibilities. Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Maintains confidentiality related to all church business. Is a reliable team player. Must have excellent organizational skills. Must be computer literate, including the use of Word, Excel, email platforms, Canva, Google Sheets and Google Docs. Is committed to the church's mission and message. Is courteous and tactful with parishioners, especially in times of grief and crises in their lives. Able to exercise exceptional judgment in dealing with sensitive and personal issues. Is comfortable with a wide range of individuals, able to work and comfort those from all walks of life. Have a positive attitude and a desire to grow with the church as it expands its ministries. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent required. A minimum of two years clerical or administrative experience working in an office environment. Work Environment Time is spent in a church office completing clerical duties. Must be able to multi-task and meet regular weekly duties. Hours This position is twelve hours per week, Tuesday through Thursday.
