Front Desk Specialist / Medical Assistant -
Beaches Full Time Jacksonville, FL, US Salary Range:
$19.00 - $21.00 per hour
Location:
Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250 A busy medical clinic in the Beaches area is seeking a dependable Front Desk Specialist to support daily office operations and provide a welcoming first point of contact for patients. This is a full-time opportunity offering benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, and a 401K retirement plan. In this role, the Front Desk Specialist manages reception duties, assists patients, and completes clerical and administrative tasks in accordance with office procedures and healthcare practice standards.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week Key Responsibilities Welcome patients and visitors, identify the purpose of each visit, and direct them appropriately. Check patients in and out for scheduled appointments while ensuring an efficient front office experience. Review, collect, and update patient demographic and insurance information. Confirm insurance eligibility and obtain required referrals or authorizations as needed. Collect co-pays and outstanding balances, process payments, and maintain accurate cash records. Schedule appointments and assist with calendar coordination for patient visits. Provide patients with information regarding HIPAA, privacy expectations, and financial responsibility guidelines. Support requests related to medical records, imaging, transportation, and other patient service needs. Maintain accurate electronic medical records and update documentation as required. Answer and route multiple phone lines, screen calls, take messages, and communicate information to the appropriate team member. Assist with additional administrative duties that help keep the medical office running smoothly. Qualifications Prior experience in a healthcare or medical office setting is preferred. High school diploma or GED required. Strong customer service approach with a professional and helpful demeanor. Clear verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable interacting with patients, visitors, and team members throughout the day. Able to remain organized and composed when handling challenging or time-sensitive situations. Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment. Understanding of patient privacy and confidentiality requirements. Proficient with computers and standard office technology. Work Environment This position is performed in a standard medical office setting. Occasional overtime may be needed based on operational needs. Physical Requirements The role generally involves sedentary office work, including approximately 90% sitting, 5% walking, and 5% standing. Candidates should have the manual dexterity needed to use a computer, operate office equipment, and complete written documentation. Vision must be sufficient to read information on computer screens, paper forms, and standard text. The position requires the ability to communicate clearly in person and by phone, including adequate speaking volume and hearing ability for routine conversations.
