Job Description

Job Summary:
The Assistant Personal Training Director is responsible for leading the personal training department, driving personal training revenue, and developing a high-performing team of fitness professionals. This role requires strong sales leadership, operational oversight, and a passion for delivering results through people. You'll be expected to recruit, develop, and manage a team of personal trainers who consistently deliver results in both client outcomes and sales performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Department Leadership & Team Management Recruit, hire, and onboard qualified personal trainers aligned with the brand's service standards. Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and accountability to ensure trainers hit performance and sales targets. Lead weekly team meetings focused on KPIs, client success, and sales strategies. Oversee scheduling, coverage, and workload distribution to optimize productivity and client service. 2. Sales & Revenue Growth Drive department sales by setting daily/weekly/monthly targets and holding the team accountable. Develop and implement strategies to increase personal training package sales and client renewals. Support trainers with sales consultations, closing deals, and objection handling. Monitor individual trainer sales performance and provide coaching as needed. 3. Client Experience & Retention Ensure the training team delivers high-quality sessions aligned with client goals and club standards. Regularly review client feedback, program effectiveness, and satisfaction. Step in to resolve client concerns and ensure service recovery when necessary. Promote trainer-client engagement, progress tracking, and goal achievement. 4. Operational Oversight & Reporting Track and report on departmental KPIs including revenue, session utilization, and client retention. Ensure accurate processing of contracts, payments, and session tracking. Maintain compliance with all health and safety standards. Collaborate with club leadership to align personal training efforts with overall club performance goals. 5. Marketing & Outreach Support and execute in-club promotions and events to drive interest in personal training. Partner with membership staff to generate leads and maximize conversion of new members into training clients. Create visibility and excitement around the personal training program through challenges, workshops, and social proof.
Qualifications:
2+ years in a fitness leadership role, preferably as an Assistant Personal Training Manager or Director. High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field is preferred. Proven ability to lead a sales-driven team to exceed targets. Strong understanding of fitness assessments, goal setting, and program design. Certification from a nationally accredited organization (NASM, ACE, NSCA, ACSM, etc.). CPR/AED certified. Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills. Ability to manage schedules, resolve conflicts, and create a high-performance culture. Proficiency in CRM or club management software is a plus.
