Job Description

Brevard Skin and Cancer Center has been a cornerstone of dermatological care in Brevard County for over 50 years. Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional service and fostering a fun, collaborative workplace culture. We are seeking a Medical Receptionist - Dermatology to become a part of our team! You will perform a variety of clerical and reception duties for patient care areas, according to practice, and established protocol assignments to keep the medical facility running smoothly. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others, strong clerical skills, and the ability to thrive in a busy and energetic setting. You will work closely with experienced providers to deliver comprehensive care to our patients.
Responsibilities:
Answer phones and screen calls in a friendly and efficient manner Performs essential and assigned daily clerical duties Proficiently operate the EMR system with all check in and check out duties Use the EMR system to accurately document patients' health information and insurance information Inform patients of any insurance/billing/ patient accounts issues. Communicates with billing department to obtain insurance verification as needed Check for applicable co-pays, co-insurance and/or deductibles Assures availability of supplies and equipment relative to reception/ lobby area Recognizes when to involve back-office assistants, the provider or Office manager based on protocol Inform patients of schedule delays greater than 15 minutes. Maintains an open line of communication with Medical Assistants and Providers regarding delays in schedules Maintains strict confidentiality of both patient and BSCC staff and provider information. Exhibit friendliness, concern and courtesy when greeting patients either in person or on the phone, as well as other staff and visitors Treats co-workers, medical providers, patients, and visitors with dignity and respect Performs other related duties as needed and assigned Willing and able to travel to all five locations
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required Some college and /or business coursework preferred Previous experience in healthcare administration or other related fields preferred EMR experience required preferred, Allscripts a plus Dermatologic terminology a plus Attentive to detail with excellent customer service skills Ability to react in a positive manner to customer/patient and staff concerns Maintain a flexible, open, positive attitude, and contribute to the team Must be able to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment Demonstrates awareness of OSHA regulations, Compliance and HIPAA Repetitive motion of hands and /or wrist Ability to receive detailed information via oral communication Ability to sit for long periods of time Strong organizational skills Adhere to BSCC dress code and policy and procedures
