Job Description
Title:
Pre-Certification Coordinator Responsibilities of the job include: Receives referrals from outside providers and other and completes checking of precertification requirements for insurance. Upon identification of precertification needs, oversees, quickly and accurately completes precertification before passing to Scheduling Coordinator for scheduling of patient.- Responsible for efficient, expedient, and accurate procedure precertification. Is able to quickly identify precertification needs and communicate to stakeholders' requirements for supporting documentation to begin precertification.
- Obtains any required missing information from physicians. Contacts physicians, patients, and families in a courteous manner to inform them of receipt of referral and advise of likely timescale for further action on order.
- Passes completed pre-certifications to scheduling coordinator for placing on the schedule in an expeditious manner.
- Maintains appropriate internal controls and spreadsheets for tracking of ongoing pre-certifications.
- Maintains knowledge base of precertification requirements for all payer types and can advise requirements to Director, Manager and other internal and external stakeholders.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Five, or more, years of previous hospital experience in all aspects of business office functions.
- High school graduate with some college courses preferred.
- Knowledge of JCAHO and state regulations for both acute and skilled nursing facilities.
- Ability to work with physicians in a collaborative manner.
