Job Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Part-Time | Hourly | Savannah, Georgia
BE PART OF THE TEAM THAT HELPS BSS RUN WITH CARE
Since 1939, Blessed Sacrament Catholic School has partnered with families in Savannah to provide an exceptional Catholic education rooted in faith, academic excellence, and service. Founded under the guidance of Father James H. Conlin and the Sisters of Mercy, BSS continues a legacy of forming the whole child - mind, body, and spirit - in a community where students are known, challenged, supported, and inspired to become the people God created them to be.
OUR MISSION
Rooted in faith and committed to academic excellence, the community of Blessed Sacrament Catholic School prepares and empowers children to lead, love, and serve God, the Church, and the world. The work of a Catholic school happens in classrooms, but it is supported every day by people behind the scenes who help families find answers, keep information organized, prepare events, solve problems, meet deadlines, and make the school feel welcoming. Those details matter because they create the conditions in which teachers can teach, students can learn, and families can feel connected to their school.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Blessed Sacrament Catholic School is seeking a warm, organized, dependable, and highly professional Administrative Assistant to provide support to the Principal and administrative team. This position will help consolidate routine administrative responsibilities currently shared across several offices, strengthening communication, organization, customer service, and day-to-day school operations.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IS
Welcoming, courteous, calm, and comfortable working with children and adults. Exceptionally organized and able to manage details, deadlines, interruptions, and changing priorities. A clear communicator with strong writing, proofreading, phone, email, and interpersonal skills. Trustworthy and able to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion. Technologically comfortable with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, online forms, databases, calendars, and school-information systems. A self-starter who can work independently while also being a collaborative member of an administrative team. Service-minded and supportive of the mission and values of Catholic education.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Principal with scheduling, correspondence, calls, messages, meetings, documents, and follow-up. Provide shared administrative support for routine work connected to communications/admissions, finance, student services, and school operations. Answer phones, greet visitors, assist families, and support secure visitor/student sign-in and sign-out procedures. Maintain accurate school records, lists, calendars, schedules, student information, and database updates as assigned. Prepare school reports, letters, forms, mailings, spreadsheets, and other documents. Assist with family communications, school events, registrations, volunteer coordination, and administrative logistics. Support routine purchasing, supply ordering, vendor coordination, invoice/document preparation, facilities requests, and transportation coordination as assigned. Track deadlines and help ensure school and diocesan reports and administrative requirements are completed accurately and on time.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree preferred. Administrative, office, school, nonprofit, or customer-service experience strongly preferred. Excellent written, verbal, organizational, technological, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work accurately in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Successful completion of Diocese of Savannah background screening and Safe Environment/VIRTUS requirements.
COMPENSATION
Anticipated hourly rate is $19-$20 per hour, with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, approved budget, and applicable diocesan employment practices.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
For many families, the Administrative Assistant may be one of the first voices they hear and one of the first people they meet. Just as importantly, this position creates administrative capacity that allows teachers and school leaders to spend more of their time on the work only they can do for students. We are looking for someone who finds purpose in helping others, takes pride in getting the details right, and wants to use those gifts in service to a Catholic school community.
TO APPLY
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, and contact information for three professional references to Anthony Rohr, Principal, through Indeed.com. Applications will be reviewed as received.
