Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Kennel Technician / Administrative Assistant to join our team. This unique position combines hands-on animal care with administrative support to ensure the smooth daily operation of our boarding, daycare, grooming, and training facility. The ideal candidate is passionate about animal welfare, takes pride in maintaining a clean and sanitary environment, and is highly organized with excellent communication and multitasking skills. Essential Responsibilities Kennel Technician Duties Provide exceptional daily care for dogs, including feeding, watering, exercising, administering medications (as directed), and monitoring each pet's health, behavior, and overall well-being. Safely handle dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments using proper animal handling techniques. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized facility by thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting kennels, suites, play areas, grooming areas, yards, offices, laundry areas, and all common spaces throughout the day. Perform deep-cleaning tasks including scrubbing walls, floors, drains, doors, crates, food and water bowls, toys, bedding, and equipment using approved cleaning and disinfecting protocols. Wash, dry, fold, and organize laundry including bedding, towels, blankets, and cleaning materials. Remove pet waste promptly and maintain odor control throughout the facility. Restock cleaning supplies, pet supplies, and inventory as needed. Assist with bathing, brushing, nail trims, and other basic grooming tasks when needed. Prepare kennels for arriving guests and ensure accommodations are clean, safe, and welcoming. Assist with pet check-in and check-out while providing outstanding customer service. Observe pets for signs of illness, injury, or stress and promptly communicate concerns to management. Maintain accurate feeding, medication, and care records. Follow all safety, sanitation, and animal care protocols to provide a healthy environment for pets and staff. Administrative Assistant Duties Answer phones, respond to emails and text messages, and assist customers professionally and courteously. Schedule boarding, daycare, grooming, and training appointments. Process payments and maintain accurate customer accounts. Assist with client communications, reminders, confirmations, and follow-up correspondence. Maintain organized client files, pet records, and business documents. Order office, kennel, and cleaning supplies and help monitor inventory levels. Assist with social media updates, marketing initiatives, and special projects. Support daily business operations by organizing schedules, completing administrative tasks, and assisting management as needed. Perform general office duties including filing, data entry, copying, scanning, and document preparation. Run occasional business errands when requested. Qualifications Previous experience working with dogs in a kennel, daycare, veterinary clinic, grooming salon, or similar environment is preferred but not required. Administrative or customer service experience is preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities. Comfortable using computers, scheduling software, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment. Reliable, dependable, and punctual with a strong work ethic. Comfortable performing physically demanding work, including standing for extended periods, frequent bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in varying weather conditions.
