Job Description:
The Iowa State University Seed Laboratory is seeking a Customer Relations Coordinator II to serve as a primary point of contact for Seed Health and Seed Quality testing customers. With more than 100 years of excellence in seed testing, training, and customer service, the ISU Seed Lab is recognized as a leader in the seed testing industry. Our laboratory provides cutting-edge seed analysis technologies and services, delivering accurate results, high sample throughput, and exceptional customer support to clients across the agricultural industry. This position plays a key role in supporting fast-paced daily laboratory operations and delivering exceptional customer service to seed industry clients through sample coordination, communication, data management, and workflow support. Example of Duties Receive, review, and document incoming seed samples; verify sample information and enter accurate data into laboratory information systems. Coordinate sample workflow by monitoring sample status, communicating with laboratory staff, and following up with customers to resolve missing or incomplete information. Serve as the primary customer contact by responding to phone, email, and in-person inquiries regarding testing services, submission requirements, timelines, and results. Maintain customer accounts and records, including account setup, data updates, billing support, and additional service requests. Support front office operations and outreach activities by welcoming visitors, preparing shipments, assisting with tours and events, and supporting trade show and marketing efforts as needed. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills, along with a customer-focused approach and a high level of accuracy when handling detailed information. The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience providing customer service and serving as a primary point of contact through phone, email, or in-person communication. Experience performing detailed data entry, recordkeeping, or administrative support duties requiring accuracy and attention to detail. Experience coordinating or communicating with multiple stakeholders, including customers, clients, vendors, or internal team members. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, or similar computer applications. Experience using database systems, customer relationship management (CRM) software, laboratory information management systems (LIMS), or other electronic recordkeeping systems.
