Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Pre-Authorization Clerk is responsible for obtaining and managing insurance authorizations for rehabilitation services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology. This position serves as a liaison between patients, providers, insurance carriers, and referral sources to ensure timely authorization and verification of benefits, minimizing delays in patient care. The Pre-Authorization Clerk maintains accurate documentation, monitors authorization status and visit limits, and ensures compliance with payer requirements, hospital policies, and regulatory standards. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service while supporting the efficient operation of the Rehabilitation Department. Minimum two (2) years clerical office experience preferred. Detail oriented with effective time management skills Proficient in Microsoft office products required, prefer Electronic Medical records experience Meditech and WellSky. Keyboard at 45 wpm accurately required Medical Insurance authorization experience preferred Medical terminology required Must be proficient in using telephone, scanner, copier, and other office equipment. Must have proven excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills in person and over the phone Basic Live Support BLS required within 60 days
