Job Description
Summary South Hills Middle School is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our team as a full-time Counseling Secretary. This role is essential in supporting the counseling department for our middle school students. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, a passion for student success, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents. Responsibilities Provide administrative support to the counseling department, including scheduling appointments, managing correspondence, and maintaining student records. Assist in the development and implementation of counseling programs and initiatives. Serve as the first point of contact for students, parents, and staff regarding counseling services. Maintain accurate and confidential student files and documentation in compliance with school policies and regulations. Prepare and distribute materials related to counseling services and school events. Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student academic and social-emotional needs. Organize and participate in school events, workshops, and parent meetings related to counseling. Perform other related duties as assigned by the counseling department or school administration. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in office administration or counseling preferred. Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably in an educational setting. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficient in using office software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations. Knowledge of counseling practices is a plus. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to supporting the academic and personal growth of middle school students. This is an "at will" position in that the employer may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment "at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 411. All recommendations for hire are tentative offers. Employment is contingent upon board approval, and successful completion of a federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
