Job Description

SUMMARY The Alton School District is seeking a dedicated and flexible individual to serve as a Substitute Clerk/Safety at the Admin Center. This position is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of administrative tasks while ensuring a safe and secure environment for students and staff. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with daily administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and document preparation. Support the front office in managing phone calls, emails, and visitor inquiries. Monitor and maintain safety protocols within the school environment, ensuring compliance with district policies. Assist in the supervision of students during arrival, dismissal, and other key times throughout the day. Collaborate with staff to address safety concerns and implement necessary measures. Perform other duties as assigned by administration to support the overall functioning of the school.
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in administration or safety preferred. Previous experience in an office or clerical role is a plus. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and the community. Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures is desirable. Must be able to adapt to varying schedules and be available on short notice.
