ARTICLE X
SUMMER
EMPLOYMENT A.
Applications Clerical staff members employed less than fifty-two (52) weeks may request consideration for summer employment by submitting an application. DESPA members who are employed in the summer will be paid holidays that occur during their summer work schedule. An employee must be in pay status the day before and the day after a holiday to be paid for the holiday. If ill the day before or after a holiday, the employee must have and use benefit time in order to be paid for the holiday. B. Selection The selection of staff members for summer employment shall be on the basis of ability, skills, and years of service in the District. Clerical staff members employed less than fifty-two (52) weeks shall be given priority for summer clerical positions such as Summer School, textbook repair, summer substitutes, etc. C. Compensation Educational office personnel selected for clerical summer employment shall be no less than their normal rate of pay. However, summer employment shall not increase the number of vacation days or sick leave days to which the employee is entitled.
