JOB OVERVIEW
The School Administrative Assistant is responsible for helping to provide an efficient and meaningful education program for District students and staff. The Administrative Assistant will carry out difficult and dependable secretarial work requiring a high level of initiative, judgment and organizational skills and an understanding of departmental functions and procedures; and perform related work as required. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain effective relationships with parents, staff and pupils.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to compose correspondence regarding sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, district employees, the community, and state and federal agency representatives. Working knowledge of school office functions and procedures. Working knowledge of English, spelling and composition. Ability to use office technology effectively and efficiently. Ability to maintain accurate and complete file records. Ability to use initiative and independent judgment. Ability to read and interpret district policies and procedures. Ability to plan and organize work and projects. Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to effectively communicate (oral and written). Ability to communicate in Spanish (preferred)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the office resource on program operational procedures and activities to district personnel, the public and outside resources and agencies. Process and produce correspondence, memoranda, requisitions, reports, forms and various curriculum materials. Maintain, control and perform specialized tasks relating to the administrator's area of responsibility. Compile data and reports from a variety of sources and coordinate processing of related program records and files and monitors and reviews for completeness and compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulatory requirements. Process details not requiring attention of the administrator; schedules meetings, conferences and appointments. Organize fire and disaster drills. Assist the administrator in budget preparation and administration. Administer first aid and medication to pupils whenever necessary. Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
