GENERAL SUMMARY
: Answer and field incoming phone lines. Schedule and dispatch for both regular Fixed Route and Call-a-Bus services. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment and with a diversity of riders. Must be available weekdays until 4:15pm. Works independently.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a scheduler and dispatcher for the Transit office for both Fixed Route and Call-A-Bus services. Answer phone calls regarding scheduling and general route questions, as well as screening and directing calls to appropriate individuals and recording messages. Performs a variety of clerical tasks such as: keyboarding, arranging and maintain the filing system, operating office machines, two-way radio, computer, and collection and assembling information. Competency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, well as the ability to learn and master new software programs. Perform other administrative tasks as assigned by the Operations Specialist. Work is performed in standard office.
Minimum Requirements:
Possession of High School Diploma or equivalent GED. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel as well as ability to learn and master new software programs. Must occasionally drive to training locations and
City Hall:
valid Indiana driver's license required and must be maintained at all times with good driving record sufficient to be insurable under the City's plan. Professional demeanor and ability to work efficiently and effectively while multi-tasking and under deadline pressure. Provide excellent customer service skills and the ability to work well with the public, co-workers, and other offices. Knowledge of Columbus City Streets and ability to give directions. Job requires bending, sitting, lifting, and stretching. Must be able to regularly stand, sit, move away from and back to a desk multiple times per day.
Residency:
Must reside in Bartholomew County or adjoining county within six (6) months of employment.
Drug/Alcohol Testing:
All Transit employees who hold a safety-sensitive position are subject to the following: drug testing and criminal background check prior to hiring and participation in random drug testing in compliance with DOT regulations and as such will be placed in the

drug testing pool.
