CMA/Secretary of Employee Health Essential Job Duties:
Consults with the Employee Health System Manager regarding the activities of the department. Sets priorities regarding appointments, typing, and routine communications. Organizes work schedule in a systematic manner. Classifies and scans employee information into an employee chart. Opens, dates, routes mail, and routes correspondence to the appropriate person. Prepares and files records and monthly, quarterly and annual reports in a timely manner. Schedules programs and activities of the department. Reviews requisitions and orders for accuracy before initiating them. Operates copier, various office equipment, computer, fax machine and scanner. Picks up laboratory supplies from the laboratory as needed. Enters data into individual employee health records on Department's computer system. Assists Employee Health System Manager with running the worker's compensation program. Demonstrates knowledge of Hospital policy and procedures. Expresses a general knowledge of the various Hospital departments and their function. Is able to locate or give directions on how to reach various departments. Maintains employee and patient confidentiality. Communicates various work comp issues that may arise with an injured employee to the department manager, insurance claims specialist, payroll and human resource department. Reserves the right not to release information unless appropriate. Assesses self learning needs and seeks assistance in meeting those needs through self-study and educational offerings. Reports for duty at designated time. Accepts other responsibilities as assigned. Recognizes in today's health care system the need for all employees of a health care facility to be physically fit to perform the tasks and duties assigned. Observes documents and communicates patient conditions with department nursing staff or physician for work-related injuries or illnesses. Performs minor first aide when needed. Assists or performs wellness physicals on employees according to EHD policy and procedures. Assists in getting employees compliant with annual requirements: Hepa Fit Testing, TB Assessments, TB Testing, mandatory physicals and annual Flu Shots. Performs patient care functions as follows: Cholestech finger sticks Dressing changes and wound care Suture removal Specimen collection including drawing blood for lab work. Urine dipstick and Urine Drug Screen Testing Prepares employee for exams: takes weight, height, pulse, B/P, temperature. Fill out forms accurately, labels specimens and transports specimens to the lab. Demonstrates ability to give injectable medication IM, Sub Q, and intradermally depending on the appropriate route to give. Qualifications and 
Education:
Graduate from an accredited program for Certified Medical Assistants, Registered. Medical Assistants or Certified Clinical Medical Assistants program. Must have active CMA, RMA or CCMA certificate. Works well with minimal supervision Have clerical and computer skills, i.e. tying, filing, etc. Must be able to do venipunctures and handle specimens correctly. Flexible in work schedule as required. Prefer clinical experience with background in Employee Health/Occupational Health Must be able to travel to off-site facilities as needed. BLS level of CPR certification is required.
