Job Description

Heroes Home Gate is a non-profit organization that provides transitional housing to homeless Veterans here in KC. HHG provides shelter, case management services, and three meals a day to all of our residents. Please see our website at www.heroeshomegate.org for more information about our organization. HHG is looking to hire a Program Assistant for all HHG Locatiions for the following shifts... Pay begins at $16+/hour. This position starts at $16+/hr and includes generous PTO, Insurance Stipend account, eligibility for Aflac benefits, eligibility for retirement benefits, and all other benefits afforded to staff.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Exchange information and keys with outgoing and incoming staff at each shift change Document the state of building and any incidents of note on the shift Orient any new Veterans, including explaining documentation for signature regarding rules and regulations, and issuing bedding, toiletries, and clothing from pantry Room Inspections Make sure chore details are monitored and checked off Monitor security system Check the bed report to make sure all Veterans have signed log in and out, also check to make sure everyone is present A complete check of the building Count medications weekly and document any discrepancies Talk and interact with Veterans during shift, document and report any concerns to Director immediately. Answer phones and take messages. MUST be able to prepare food or have a food handler cert. Qualifications Ideal candidates are friendly, motivated, and self sufficient. Program Assistants work with minimal supervision or direction, and must be able to stay on task. Program Assistants must be able to maintain professional boundaries in a relaxed, close environment. Preference given to Veterans in hiring. Must be 18 years of age or older Availability to work complete 8-hour shift Must be drug free Must have a valid Drivers License Prior experience in a residential facility preferred Unfortunately, we are unable to employ sex offenders. Other criminal offenses will be considered on a case by case basis and felonies do not pose a blanket disqualification.
