Job Description
The Administrative Assistant acts as administrative professional for the Community & Economic Development and Public Works Departments, as well as the secretary to the Planning Commission. Provides administrative and clerical assistance in these roles. Maintains files for projects, subdivisions, licensing, permits, Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals. Types letters, memos, and other written communications. Receives and reviews all applications for all Planning and Zoning cases and variances for the Board of Zoning Appeals for completeness and accuracy. Is the initial public contact for the City of Lansing for the departments served by this position. Greets and assists citizens via telephone, digitally, or in person to assist them in applying for building permits for new construction, remodeling, plumbing, electrical, heating and air conditioning work. Processes applications for all electrical, plumbing, mechanical and occupational licenses.
