Job Description

The Green River District Health Department is accepting applications for a full-time Administrative Secretary located at our District Office in Owensboro, KY. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: answering multi-line phone and handling calls appropriately. Greet visitors and direct as appropriate. Lock and unlock public entrance to administrative offices according to office hours. Respond to emergency broadcast test weekly. Maintain district wide phone list, emergency contact lists and automated voicemail system messaging. Enter purchase orders into the system. Coordinate travel arrangements. Order and maintain equipment and supplies for reception area equipment. Serve as back-up to Purchasing Specialist. Enter Community Health Service reports. Responsible for creating, reproducing or typing from a draft, newsletters, brochures, bulletins, charts, spreadsheets and other related material upon request. Complete data entry for various programs. Complete packet assembly and other jobs as needed. Scan assorted documents and file or email according to procedure. Incoming mail will be sorted and distributed into appropriate mailboxes. Log checks for Financial deposit processing. Outgoing mail will have proper postage and be completed by 11:00 a.m. daily. Operate computerized high-volume copy/print system and associated administrative functions. Assist Supervisor/Director concerning county and district boards of health. Assist/cover other support staff and duties necessary for office function or complete special projects as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of secretarial, clerical or general office duties. Education and training in Public Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, Public Health, Community Health or closely related field may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
Compensation:
$16.08 - $19.99/hr., salary may be negotiable according to merit system guidelines.
