Job Overview About St. George Greek Orthodox Church St. George Greek Orthodox Church is a vibrant and welcoming parish community dedicated to worship, fellowship, service, and spiritual growth. We are seeking a highly organized, professional, and personable Parish Secretary to serve as the administrative hub of our parish office. This individual will support the Parish Priest, Parish Council, ministries, and parishioners while helping ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the church. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, technologically proficient, and committed to providing excellent service in a faith-centered environment. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary point of contact for parishioners, visitors, and community members via phone, email, and in-person interactions. Manage daily office operations, correspondence, mail, and records. Prepare and distribute weekly bulletins, announcements, newsletters, and other parish communications. Maintain parish membership, stewardship, sacramental, and historical records. Support the Parish Priest with scheduling, correspondence, and administrative needs related to worship services, sacraments, and parish events. Coordinate parish calendars, facility reservations, and ministry communications. Maintain church databases, digital filing systems, and office records. Assist with bookkeeping functions, including invoice processing, financial recordkeeping, and related administrative tasks. Order and maintain office supplies and equipment. Ensure confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive parish information. Provide a warm, welcoming, and service-oriented presence that reflects the mission and values of the parish. Qualifications Required Strong organizational, administrative, and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience using QuickBooks Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Professional, reliable, and customer-service oriented. Preferred Previous experience in church administration, nonprofit administration, or a professional office setting. Familiarity with the Greek Orthodox Church and Orthodox Christian traditions. Experience with membership databases and church management software. Basic bookkeeping or accounting knowledge. Bilingual in Greek and English (helpful but not required). Work Environment Reports to the Parish Priest and works collaboratively with the Parish Council Executive Committee. Position requires working in a faith-based environment with regular interaction with clergy, parish leaders, volunteers, and parishioners. Why Join St. George?
