Not specified Description About the Job General Summary of Position The Perioperative Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for scheduling inpatient and outpatient surgical cases for MedStar Baltimore Hospitals. The Perioperative Scheduling Coordinator will answer incoming calls/monitor fax communications etc. to address the appropriate course of action (scheduling/canceling/rescheduling). The Perioperative Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for pre-registering and scheduling complex and specialized procedures and coordinating multiple resources for patients having multiple services. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Receives and screens telephone calls. Responds to a variety of inquiries and/or refers calls to appropriate personnel. Takes/forward calls to appropriate personnel. Takes/forwards messages regarding patient charges and surgical schedule to facilitate office operations. Schedules regular stand-by diagnostic and therapeutic surgical procedures via telephone walk-ins from surgeons/office personnel submission to MedConnect. Enters/posts surgical procedures after verifying surgeon's service daily block allocation length of case type of anesthesia and delineation of privileges/procedures. Establishes and maintains a variety of files records logs etc. Prints reviews and confirms the 24-hour 48-hour and 72-hour schedules with appropriate office personnel which includes verification of time allocated patient name procedure performed and special equipment needed. Prints photocopies and distributes records Operating Room schedules etc. to authorize departments. Performs activities related to posting/billing Operating Room services as assigned. Confirms prior authorization for next day cases. Reviews same day cancellation report. Investigates and resolves scheduling discrepancies in a timely fashion. Minimal Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required May require up to 1 year of technical or other specialized training such as medical terminology/anatomy and computers. Experience 1-2 years Experience preferably in high volume medical/surgical posting/scheduling and billing environment required Knowledge Skills and Abilities Clear communication skills both written and verbal Knowledge of basic computer programs including Excel Word PowerPoint Visio etc. Ability to keep confidential information regarding patients and team members Ability to withstand crisis events Ability to provide customer service to associates across various departments This position has a hiring range of USD $20.57 - USD $36.27 /Hr.
