Job Description

Get Directions The Park Rapids School District is looking for a dedicated and organized individual to join our team as a Special Education Secretary with the PAWN/Freshwater Cooperative. This part-time position plays a crucial role in supporting the special education department by managing administrative tasks, facilitating communication, and ensuring that educational services run smoothly for students with special needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment and possess strong organizational and communication skills. 20 hours per week, mid August through mid June each school year. Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the special education department, including managing schedules, maintaining records, and preparing reports.
  • Assist in the coordination of special education meetings, including IEP meetings, and ensure all necessary documentation is prepared and distributed.
  • Serve as a point of contact for parents, teachers, and external agencies regarding special education services and resources.
  • Maintain student files and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding special education documentation.
  • Manage incoming correspondence, phone calls, and inquiries related to special education.
  • Support the special education staff with clerical tasks, such as data entry, filing, and the preparation of educational materials.
  • Assist in the organization of special events, workshops, and training sessions related to special education.
  • Collaborate with other school staff to promote effective communication and support for students with special needs. Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in secretarial or administrative support is preferred.
  • Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with student information systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • A commitment to supporting students with special needs and promoting an inclusive educational environment.
  • Ability to pass a background study.
