Position Summary Administrative Assistant Temporary Pool Summary Applying for this position will place you in a general temporary pool of candidates with Southeast Missouri State University for non-benefit eligible positions in departments and campuses throughout the University. Qualified applicants are placed into temporary administrative assistant assignments as positions become vacant; when regular employees are absent; during peak work periods; and for special events. Temporary administrative assistants may work up to 29 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides administrative support to the assigned department Performs computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheet and database, Processes department requisitions, invoices, expense reports and transfers Orders department supplies Answers and directs department phone calls Schedules appointments and meetings for the department Enrolls students in education courses and maintains course wait lists (if supporting Academic unit) Organizes and processes textbook orders and advising assignments (if supporting Academic unit) Handles confidential materials Oversees training, scheduling and work assignments for student workers Attends and records minutes of department meetings Assists current and prospective department students Any other duties as assigned by supervisor Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED Excellent organizational and time management skills Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions Demonstrated ability to synthesize detailed information to make sound, independent decisions with minimal supervision Demonstrated bookkeeping skills Ability to initiate and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
