The Junior College of Kansas City, as it was known starting in 1919, was one of the first schools in the country to award an associate degree. Today, MCC offers 125 associate degree and certificate programs. Metropolitan Community College comprises five campuses on the Missouri side of the Greater Kansas City area 47 major buildings and about 550 acres in all: MCC-Blue River , located in Independence, Missouri; MCC-Longview located in Lee's Summit, Missouri, MCC-Maple Woods located in the Northland of Kansas City, Missouri; MCC-Online and MCC-Penn Valley , located in Midtown Kansas City, Missouri. MCC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission . In addition, several programs have specific accreditations as well.

Job Summary Incumbent provides comprehensive and professional administrative support, and assists with financial/accounting analysis and research, and projects for an assigned functional area. Major duties and responsibilities include ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, College policies, processes, procedures, standards, and requirements; providing highly skilled assistance to departments; scheduling and coordinating meetings; preparing financial documentation; processing requisitions; maintaining data; and preparing analytical or statistical reports. Essential Functions Provides highly skilled assistance to the department; work may involve reviewing applications or other information to determine program eligibility or compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, policies, procedures, standards, and requirements; and assisting with coordinating special project operations Manages an assigned budget; work may involve monitoring and authorizing program expenditures, and making and implementing recommendations related to budget processes and procedures Plans, schedules, and coordinates meetings; work may involve reserving rooms and other spaces; contacting and sending out notifications to appropriate personnel, vendors, and other agencies; maintaining calendars; monitoring staff operations; transcribing and sending out minutes; preparing meeting agendas; and administering contracts Prepares, edits, formats, reconciles, maintains, and/or submits financial documentation, analytical and statistical reports, financial reports, communications materials, records, letters, files, policy and personnel documents, and other documentation; work may include compiling and analyzing information, and making and implementing related recommendations Performs customer service duties to include providing general and specific information to employees and vendors via phone, email, or in person Coordinates district-wide business travel for the department. This consists of arranging/booking airfare, hotel, registrations, car rentals, and other travel logistics Coordinates with internal and external personnel, departments, and agencies to communicate information, serve as liaison, represent the department/College, and facilitate departmental operations Performs office management duties to include maintaining inventory; ordering supplies; and sorting and distributing mail Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related areas
• Three (3) years' experience in accounting/finance support or related area
•Minimum Education Qualification can be substituted with an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

• Knowledge of computers and related software applications Knowledge of general ledger reporting techniques Knowledge of mathematical concepts Knowledge of data review techniques Knowledge of customer service principles Knowledge of automated accounting software packages Knowledge of grant writing/proposal success Skilled in planning, coordinating, and implementing administrative program components and activities Skilled in analyzing processes and making recommendations for improvement Skilled in ensuring compliance with applicable internal and/or external program requirements Skilled in monitoring and maintaining an administrative program budget Skilled in troubleshooting and solving program issues Skilled in applying accounting principles and practices Skilled in tabulating, recording, and balancing transactions Skilled in reviewing and resolving account discrepancies Skilled in compiling and verifying financial data Skilled in preparing and maintaining financial and complex clerical records and reports Skilled in providing customer service Skilled in conducting mathematical calculations Skilled in maintaining confidentiality Skilled in operating a computer and related software applications Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically require feeling, grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
