Job Description

Roanoke-Chowan Community College is seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant to support its Workforce and Continuing Education leadership, including the Vice President of Workforce and Institutional Advancement; the Dean of Workforce and Continuing Education; and the Assistant Registrar for Continuing Education. This position provides essential administrative, clerical, and customer service support to students, instructors, and leadership in a fast-paced educational environment focused on workforce and first-responder training. The Administrative Assistant serves as a key point of contact for students and the public and plays an important role in ensuring accurate documentation, organized records, and smooth daily program operations. This position reports directly to the Dean for Workforce and Continuing Education. Provide administrative support to the Vice President, Dean, and Registrar, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating appointments. Serve as a point of contact for students, instructors, and the public by answering phones, responding to emails, and providing general program information. Assist with registration processes, including data entry, verifying student information, and processing course enrollments. Assist with maintaining organized filing systems for program, course, and compliance documentation Monitor and order office supplies; maintain organized filing systems (both electronic and paper). Assist with compiling data and reports for state reporting, audits, and program evaluation. Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure smooth daily operations of Workforce & Continuing Education programs. Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support departmental goals. Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or GED Valid Driver's License Ability to work up to 25 hours per week with flexible daily hours Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally Strong customer service and interpersonal skills Basic computer proficiency (email, word processing, data entry) Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Dependable attendance and professional demeanor Prior experience in an administrative, clerical, or office support role Customer service experience in an educational, healthcare, or public-facing environment Associate's degree or higher Experience working with adult learners or students Familiarity with academic or continuing education environments Working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel & Google Docs/Sheets
