Asst Position Type Part Time Leave Format Staff Shift Day Supervisor Title Director - Small Business Center Location Main Campus (Dobson) Job Description - Summary To support programs and activities of the Small Business Center ( SBC ), providing administrative support and assistance as needed to achieve the Center's mission, goals, and objectives. Provide outstanding customer service to client on phone, in SBC office, and in classes. Work with others in an office environment. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and implement recommendations in support of SBC and the college's goals. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Effectively handle a work environment and conditions which involve periodically working irregular hours.
PLEASE NOTE
: The location for this position is SBC@InterWORKS in Mount Airy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up and schedule Small Business Center seminars within the Community College system, including reserving classrooms and scheduling speakers for seminars. Insure the appropriate equipment is available for instructors to present seminars. Complete class setup forms in a timely fashion and report/grade seminar results in in NCID system. Prepare instructor packets with appropriate forms, including registrations, evaluations, instructor handouts, instructor contracts and W-9 forms. Manage seminar registration process and send reminder communication to seminar participants. Assist with SBC promotion efforts by developing E-Marketing pieces to promote SBC classes and developing seminar marketing flyers and other promotional materials. Maintain SBC address books and mailing lists. Initiate and update the e-mail newsletter of seminars to 2,000 contacts via Constant Contact. Assist with SBC on-line marketing and social media efforts. This includes updating the SBC Website and Facebook Events Page. Place seminar ads in publications as directed, and distribute marketing materials in the community (multiple Chambers of Commerce and other partner agencies). Communicate seminars to SCC Marketing department for distribution. Manage SBC resource library, maintaining list of library assets and tracking items loaned to clients. Follow-up on unreturned materials; report lost/unrecoverable items to Director. Assist Director with annual SBC report and other administrative duties as needed. Adhere to state SBC guidelines as established by Small Business Center network and state Director. Represent SBC in a positive, professional manner. Communicate with and assist SBC clients via phone and email. Handle SBC office operations, including maintaining and ordering office supplies and equipment as directed. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Five years of increasingly responsible experience in business working in an office environment.
- Proficiency or ability to quickly learn Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint. Ability to use E-mail marketing software. Prefer an individual who has experience with on-line marketing and social media.
