FULL-TIME, NONEXEMPT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. Provides technical and administrative support to the Assistant Director of Family Economic Independence; serves as the first line contact for internal and external clients and agencies; answers and directs phone messages; composes and proofreads correspondences and other documents; compiles data and prepares statistical/summary reports with charts and graphs as requested; maintains calendar reservation systems; manages paper and computerized record keeping systems. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of some economic program general procedures, methods, and practices. Significant knowledge and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling, proofreading and program terminology to compose correspondence, reports and other materials. Significant knowledge of program content and services to apply in the analysis of information and decision-making. Experience supporting a department/program with administrative duties. Experience collaborating and providing updates with other partnering agencies. Ability to record, compile, summarize and analyze narrative and numerical materials. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and review administrative and program workflow and procedures. Ability to learn, interpret and analyze applicable program content and make necessary decisions. Ability to learn, interpret and explain policies, regulations and programs. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in problem-solving. Ability to answer inquiries independently and coordinate a variety of resources in acquiring information.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledges, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual preferred. NCFAST knowledge preferred.
