Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
In collaboration with the Bismarck Dakota Center for Independent Living leadership team, the Dickinson Branch Office Coordinator supports the organization's mission and vision while upholding the Independent Living Philosophy. This position plays a key role in overseeing services and building partnerships across the Dickinson service area, including Golden Valley, Bowman, Slope, Hettinger, Adams, Stark, Billings, and Dunn counties. The Branch Office Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Dickinson office and providing a wide range of services to individuals with disabilities. These services include information and referral, self and systems advocacy, independent living skills training, peer support, transition services, and social and recreational programming. This position works closely with consumers to develop and achieve their independent living goals, maintain accurate and up-to-date service records, and coordinate appropriate follow-up plans when consumers exit services. The Branch Office Coordinator is also responsible for submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, maintaining a working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and providing ADA-related information and accessibility assessments to businesses and community partners. Additionally, this role supports youth transition services by delivering curriculum to schools in Stark County and surrounding areas, based on funding availability. This position provides direct supervision to all DCIL staff and volunteers at the Dickinson office and ensures effective day-to-day operations, service delivery, and community engagement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1.
Develop and maintain a strong understanding of DCIL programs, services, history, and the Independent Living Philosophy, along with consumer service records. 2. Determine eligibility, gather required background information, and complete intake documentation for new referrals. 3. Make appropriate referrals to the Independent Living Advocate and other resources as needed. 4. Inform consumers of their rights, including the Client Assistance Program (CAP), during the intake process. 5. Establish and maintain accurate, up-to-date consumer service records and document outreach, community, and education activities in the database on a weekly basis in accordance with policy. 6. Provide information, support, and training to assist consumers in achieving their independent living goals and/or refer them to appropriate resources and agencies. 7. Provide self and systems advocacy and independent living skills training to consumers. 8. Assist consumers in accessing appropriate community services and make referrals to other organizations and service providers as needed. 9. Maintain a working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and provide accessibility assessments as needed. 10. Assist consumers in applying for Social Security benefits and/or Medicare Part D plans. 11. Provide outreach services through collaboration with community agencies to identify and address Independent Living needs within the Dickinson service delivery area. 12. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community organizations, service providers, and agencies. 13. Provide information and referral services to consumers, families, and community members. 14. Document all Information and Referral (I&R) activities in the center's database on a weekly basis in accordance with policy. 15. Promote the Independent Living Philosophy and DCIL services by participating in community events within the service delivery area. 16. Provide youth transition services to schools and the community within the service delivery area. 17. Oversee the daily operations of the Dickinson Branch Office and provide supervision to all DCIL staff and volunteers at the branch office. 18. Complete & submit monthly, quarterly, and federal statistical reports to the Program Director. 19. Travel as required to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities. 20. Complete the agency's annual work plan as it relates to the Branch Office Coordinator position. 21. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Program Director.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS 1.
Participate in in-service training and professional development opportunities. 2. Participate in staff meetings, either virtually or in person at the Bismarck office. 3. Adhere to all rules and principles of confidentiality and follow and uphold all agency policies and procedures. 4. Participate in annual performance evaluations and complete evaluations for Dickinson staff. 5. Submit articles for the DCIL newsletter on a quarterly basis. 6. Participate in the planning and development of the center's annual work plan. 7. Maintain effective working relationships with consumers, co-workers, and service providers. 8. Maintain knowledge of community resources and available services. 9. Demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
This position is supervised by the IL Program Director.
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY
The Branch Office Coordinator provides supervision to all branch office staff and volunteers.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 1.
Knowledge of physical, cognitive, and mental disabilities and the ability to assess independent living needs to support each consumer in reaching their independent living potential 2. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, families, significant others, staff, and community professionals 3. Ability to provide information and conduct accessibility assessments for businesses, service providers, and community organizations within the Dickinson service area 4. Understanding of the Independent Living Philosophy, the history of the disability rights movement, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) 5. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field. OR 2. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the Independent Living field or a related area.
WORKING REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITION 1.
Occasional work outside of standard business hours (8:00AM - 5:00PM) may be required. 2. Subject to a three (3) to six (6) month probationary period. 3. Position is contingent upon funding. 4. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check. 5. Work environment includes a quiet to moderate noise level. 8. Duties are performed in a variety of settings, including the office, community locations, consumer homes, and throughout the service area. 9. Requires the ability to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing. 10. Must be able to lift or transfer a minimum of 20 pounds. 11. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, and perform movements such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. 12. Travel is required as part of this position.
