June 8th, 2026 The Marlborough, New Hampshire Police Department is seeking an enthusiastic candidate to join our team as a part-time Administrative Assistant. The police administrative assistant performs highly responsible work, develops office procedures, and answers routine inquiries from the citizens we serve. He or she works under the general supervision of the Police Chief who outlines departmental policy, makes work assignments, and evaluates work in terms of effectiveness of results. Performs duties with some independence, exercises judgement and tact in answering inquiries, and determines correct course of action. This position requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, members of other departments, and the public. Prior experience or interest in a position relating to customer service, law enforcement, courts/social services, dispatching, or other municipal government is desirable but not required. A drive for public service and a community-first mindset is imperative to succeed in this position. Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position include:
  • Ability and desire to learn and to become proficient in new skills/assignments.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, and police practices as they relate to records.
  • Consistently attentive to detail, dependable, and well-organized.
  • Ability to maintain and quickly access accurate records and files.
  • Considerable knowledge of arithmetic, spelling, and vocabulary.
  • Computer proficiency including the ability to learn police records systems and existing familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in a confidential environment.
  • Ability to work independently at times as well as toward a common goal in a small team environment.
This position is part-time (24-32 hours per week) with flexible scheduling. The Town of Marlborough provides part-time employees with one week of paid time off (PTO) for the first year and two weeks PTO for the second and subsequent years of employment. The pay for this position is dependent upon the candidate's qualifications and experience. Candidates will be required to undergo a background check and sign a confidentiality agreement before hire.
