Temple Israel of Great Neck, a traditional, egalitarian community serving more than 700 member families, has been a leading congregation of the Conservative movement in the United States for 80+ years. Temple Israel offers a full range of spiritual, educational, cultural, and social activities and yet is intimate enough to invite participation and foster friendships in all services, programs, and activities.
Summary Description:
Temple Israel of Great Neck seeks a detail-oriented and personable Part-Time Administrative Assistant to support the congregation's administrative operations, membership services, and major synagogue programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain synagogue databases, records, and reports. Coordinate High Holiday administration, including seating, ticketing, and related communications. Assist congregants with membership inquiries, event registrations, and general information. Manage cemetery and memorial board records and coordinate related transactions and communications. Coordinate kiddush sponsorships and work with caterers for weekly and special events. Provide office, technical, and administrative support to clergy and staff. Assist with reception, phone coverage, and special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational and administrative skills. Excellent customer service and communication abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems. Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain confidentiality. Experience in a synagogue, nonprofit, membership organization, or office environment preferred.
Schedule:
• Regular schedule weekdays. Availability Sunday mornings (9:30 AM-11:30 AM) from September through May preferred. Additional flexibility may be required during the High Holiday season. Additional flexibility during the High Holiday season.
Competencies:
Minimum 2 years relevant work experience Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) Constant Contact or similar email marketing platform Bachelor's Degree preferred
Pay:
$28.00 - $32.00 per hour
