Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Secretary/Bookkeeper to join our team. This role is vital in maintaining accurate financial records, managing administrative tasks, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in various accounting software and systems, including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and other financial tools. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, supporting both operational and financial functions of the organization. Duties Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable and receivable processing Prepare and record journal entries, ensuring accuracy in debits and credits Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and balance sheets in accordance with GAAP standards Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings Maintain and update financial records using various accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Sage, Xero, and other financial systems Conduct account analysis and account reconciliation to ensure data integrity Generate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and other management reports Support budgeting processes by tracking expenses and revenues against forecasts Ensure compliance with governmental accounting requirements and standards for non-profit or corporate entities Perform general administrative duties related to financial documentation and record keeping Skills Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, and other financial systems Strong understanding of accounting principles including GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and journal entries Experience with governmental accounting, non-profit accounting, or public accounting is preferred Skilled in spreadsheets (Excel) for data analysis and report writing Ability to perform bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation accurately Knowledge of payroll processing, tax experience, and payroll software systems Familiarity with financial concepts such as budgeting, account analysis, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation Excellent organizational skills with 10 key typing proficiency for data entry tasks Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret financial data accurately Effective communication skills for preparing financial reports and collaborating with team members This role is ideal for candidates with solid bookkeeping experience who are committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy in financial management. The Secretary/Bookkeeper will be instrumental in supporting the organization's financial health through diligent record keeping and adherence to best practices.
