What You Will Do:

Oversee and guide engineering design activities, ensure high‑quality plan development, technical accuracy, and alignment with project standards. Provide direct supervision to engineering and technical staff, including assigning work, monitoring progress, evaluating performance, coaching staff, and managing leave approvals. Develop, review, and sign engineering plans and documents for highway and bridge projects, applying geometric, hydraulic, and structural design principles using CADD tools. Coordinate with District Survey and maintain accurate project data within systems such as ELLIS, TMS, and BMS to ensure compliance with business rules and procedures. Conduct field reviews, prepare design revisions, recommend repairs or replacements, and evaluate engineering reports, bids, and change orders for construction projects. Provide technical guidance to internal offices, consultants, FHWA, and local agencies; represent the department in meetings, court proceedings, and conferences, and travels to project sites as needed.

All bargaining unit and exempt new hires to ODOT must serve a one year probationary period.
