Job Description
Company Overview Since 1944, Unistrut Service Company has provided distribution materials, engineered framing systems, and value-added services including cutting, kitting, and bundling. With experienced engineers and product specialists, the company supports projects from pre-construction design through successful completion. Position Summary The Administrative Assistant I provides cross-functional administrative and operational support to multiple departments, including Administrative Operations, Plant Operations, Engineering, and Sales. This role supports high-volume transactional workflows, customer and vendor coordination, and general office operations. The position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to independently prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Provide daily administrative support to multiple departments to ensure smooth office and operational workflows. Prepare, format, and distribute professional correspondence, including emails, memos, and internal documentation. Maintain spreadsheets, trackers, and routine operational reports with a high level of accuracy. Assist with the creation, classification, and maintenance of sales orders and purchase orders as assigned. Process inventory-related transactions within the ERP system in accordance with established procedures. Support assigned Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable activities, including documentation and data entry. Respond to customer and sales inquiries with a strong customer-service focus, resolving issues or escalating when appropriate. Communicate with vendors regarding order status, expediting needs, and delivery timelines. Coordinate vendor and customer returns, replacements, related credits, and freight claims. Act as a liaison between departments to support timely communication and issue resolution. Serve as backup support for cross-trained administrative and operational functions. Exercise independent judgment to prioritize workload and recommend process improvements when appropriate. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 1-2 years of experience in an administrative, customer service, or office support role. Experience supporting sales or operations teams in a high-volume transactional environment. Experience working in a distribution, manufacturing, or similar operational environment. Working knowledge of ERP systems and general data entry best practices. Preferred Qualifications Exposure to basic accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable. Familiarity with freight, shipping, or logistics terminology. Occasional standing, bending, and filing. Ability to lift and move office materials and files, typically up to 15 pounds. Ability to operate standard office equipment and a hand-held phone. Work Schedule This is a full-time position. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour unpaid lunch break. Additional hours may be required based on business needs. Company Benefits Benefit eligibility begins on the first of the month following the completion of 30 days of employment.
