Job Description

Position Summary The primary purpose of the Unit Assistant is to perform clerical duties. The UA role involves answering phones, answering call lights, assisting physicians during their rounds, order entry, along with chart preparation and tear down. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Clinical Experience, preferred. Adheres to the hospital attendance policy and will make every effort to consistently be punctual when reporting to work and during daily activities. Obtain and maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) training in Basic Life Support (BLS) utilizing Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) is required. Skills Proficient computer skills to complete tasks as required. Must be organized, able to effectively prioritize tasks and exhibit appropriate time management skills. Must be detail oriented while focusing on safe practices and quality care. Demonstrates effective communication. Effective appropriate and professional interactions with colleagues/physicians, patients and visitors. Responsibilities & Expectations Perform the responsibilities and expectations as described above. Maintains professionalism and confidentiality in all communications. Communicates effectively with medical, nursing and interdepartmental staff. Participates in and supports hospital safety programs and initiatives. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Exhibits High Reliability Organization (HRO) tools and tones. Responsible for timely review of emails, department communications and applicable learning assignments and completion as applicable. Other duties as assigned Department Responsibilities & Expectations Works closely with the off-shift administrator for direction on which floors to assist. This position will be mobile and help all floors when the needs arise. Working Conditions Varied locations and hours as required by the job Work weekends and holidays as assigned or as applicable based on department needs. Meal and break times are coordinated with other staff members to maintain adequate coverage. Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day. Cross training depending upon department needs.
