Job Description

Overview The Board of County Commissioners is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to serve as Clerk to the Board of Commissioners. Responsibilities This clerk shall perform the duties required by sections 305.10 and 305.11 of the Revised Code and other duties as directed by the Board of Commissioners. In summary, this position will:
  • Receive support materials for consideration by the Board of Commissioners (i.e. purchases, contracts, agreements, etc.). Review contents of documentation for compliance with local and State policies; resolve any issues.
  • Prepare support information for meetings and hearings; maintains a full and accurate written record of the proceedings of the board. Processes and disburses approved documents.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, mailing notices, answering calls, indexing journals, and recordkeeping. Provide service and assistance to the public.
  • Manage day-to-day office operations in the absence of the Board.
  • Update spreadsheets to monitor sales tax revenue, fund advances, etc. Print monthly and year-end financial reports for review by the Board. Position may assist with other financial functions.
  • Work with HR consultant for new hires. Oversee completion of new hire documents; monitor employees' anniversary dates/probation dates.
  • Other duties include public records management, serving as clerk for the Grand Lake Facility Authority Board, and assisting with special projects of the Board.
Qualifications Minimum two years' experience in a public sector or government administrative role, with at least one year in a supervisory capacity. Proficient in office software; demonstrate composition skills and exceptional communication skills. Obtain Ohio Notary Certificate within 6 months.
