The Academic Program Administrator (APA) manages the process by which osteopathic medical students complete an academic program in accordance with Ohio University and Heritage College policies and procedures. This focuses on the last two years of training within the Heritage College Clinical Education Network (CEN) and with other affiliates as pursued by students for graduate medical education goals.Department Responsibilities:
The APA manages the operational support of students through clinical education. The activities include but are not limited to: Student rotation scheduling and on-boarding, monitoring student academic and professional performance, ensuring student requirements are met, and holding meetings to support and advise students for success. Interpreting and implementing Office of Medical Education (OME), University, and accreditation policies, procedures, and guidelines throughout the students' clinical education experience to answer inquiries, resolve problems, and enable students to graduate from medical school and secure residencies. Organizing and coordinating clinical education programming for Heritage College students including but not limited toOCOM 7902
(Introduction to Clinical Education), clinical site on-boarding/orientation, Year 3 & 4 clinical assessments, Year 4 Residency preparation and planning, Skills Labs, System Didactics, and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) Labs. The APA engages with clinical education sites by collaborating with clinical faculty and clinical rotation site staff. The activities include but are not limited to: Organizing and facilitating student rotation experiences. Identifying and ensuring the availability of resources and rotations to meet academic and clinical education program requirements for Heritage College students. Recruiting and orienting new clinical faculty and providing training to clinical support staff. Assisting in monitoring clinical faculty performance. Ensuring clinical faculty credentialing and agreements and are in place as required for accreditation and liability purposes. The APA collaborates with various college departments to address business needs, complete special projects, and achieve compliance standards. The APA collaborates with the Student Affairs team to provide support and assistance as needed to the APA's assigned students. Other duties as assigned. Position Profile Oversees and implements University academic programming and policy approval process. Reviews and analyzes existing programs to ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies and regulations. Administers and evaluates the effectiveness of program achievements. Coordinates curriculum development, faculty affairs, and accreditation processes. May oversee core program components, curricula and/or instruction. Level Summary Manages and resolves complex and ambiguous issues. Works on both strategic and operational challenges, addressing problems that require advanced knowledge and experience. Often takes on leadership roles in projects or initiatives. Supervisory Responsibilities Provides mentorship and guidance to team. Infrequently has a limited number of direct reports. Fiscal Responsibilities May have budgetary responsibility for small-scale projects or initiatives. Problem Solving Solves complex problems, often with limited guidance. Independence of Action Works independently; seeks guidance for unusual situations. Communication and Collaboration Collaborates with team members and external departments. May represent the team in meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Physical Requirements This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs. Minimum Qualifications Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree 1 year of supervisory experience Department HCOM - Medical Education-Clinical Education Pay Rate The approved hiring range for this position is $44,592 to $59,085 . Offers outside of this range require additional approvals. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate's education and experience in relation to the minimum qualifications for the position.
