Job Description

JOB OBJECTIVES
Incumbent is responsible for providing clerical and secretarial support for the Criminal Division of the Prosecutor's office.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Preparing and/or finalizing all documents for Court; Preparing and/or finalizing all correspondence for the Assistant Prosecutors; Opening and closing all case files; Scheduling appointments and/or depositions; Transports and Files all court filings on a daily basis; Acting as a back-up Receptionist when needed; Maintaining case file schedules; Process and implement expungements; Maintaining records retention file room; Input data into Prosecutor's "courtview" database; Complying statistics of criminal cases processed by Criminal Division; Maintaining calendars for the Assistant Prosecutors; Obtain and retain Certification of operation of L.E.A.D.S. and
O.H.L.E.G.
databases through State of Ohio; Operate L.E.A.D.S. and
O.H.L.E.G.
databases to obtain criminal histories for case files and Prosecutor's requests.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs related Essential and Non-Essential functions as needed.
I. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DIFFICULTY OF WORK
Equipment:
Incumbent uses the following equipment: computer, printer, copier, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laminator, and fax machine.
Critical Skills/Expertise:
Ability to deal with the public, incoming calls, and staff personnel; Ability to type, using correct grammar; Knowledge of legal terms and the legal system; Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
Job Standards:
High School education or equivalent is required, along with related training and work experience. Work involves moderately complex, relatively standardized tasks, processes, and operations following established laws and procedures.
II. RESPONSIBILITY
Supervisor provides general direction in following established practices and clear-cut policies. Errors in work may disrupt case preparation or fail to provide Assistant Prosecutor's with required files or information.
III. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS
Incumbent has contact with co-workers, employees in the department, public and private sector employees, and the general public. The purpose of these contacts is to communicate with attorneys and provide secretarial support for the department.
IV. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical Requirements:
Incumbent performs light work which may require lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds occasionally.
Physical Activity:
Incumbent performs the following physical activities: stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Visual Activity:
Incumbent performs work where the seeing job is close to the eyes.
Job Location:
Incumbent works inside with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
