Elementary Administrator Intern

REPORTS TO
Building Principal
POSITION SUMMARY
To gain practical experience in school administration by performing a variety of tasks under the supervision of experienced principals, collaborating with the administrative team on instructional leadership practices, and learning about school operations, all while developing your skills and knowledge within the profession.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists the principal in the general administration of the school. Assists the principal in providing ongoing, research based instructional leadership for the school. Supervises and evaluates faculty and staff. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with parents, students, staff, and colleagues. Works to provide a safe learning and working environment. Maintains professional standards of conduct and communications. Maintains confidentiality. Supervises student conduct, implements disciplinary procedures and maintains disciplinary records. Assists the principal in establishing and updating site crisis plan and exercises decisive leadership in a crisis situation. Assists parents, counselors, and teachers in meeting student's academic and behavioral needs through interventions, programs, and resources. Supervises school extracurricular activities. Assists in coordinating and approving site events, field trips, performances and community programs. Assists in coordinating parent, faculty, and student groups/committees to enhance educational programs and activities. Participates in parent conferences/meetings (IEP, 504) as needed. Assists in the coordination of professional development programs. Assists teachers and support staff in their professional growth. Assists in the preparation of master/student schedules. Assists the principal with coordination of textbooks, supplies, technology, and equipment and maintains appropriate receipts and records. Assists principals, district staff, and district administration in the responsibility of coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, human capital, business office, and other support services. Assists in managing student data systems and site technology programs. Assists the principal in the implementation of district curriculum, assessments, strategic plan, goals, philosophy and policies within the area of authority. Assists teachers in providing a classroom atmosphere conducive to maximum learning. Assists teachers in providing research based instructional strategies, interventions and practices that result in effective teaching and mastery learning. Assists principal in facilitating collaboration and shared decision making in the school improvement process. Assists in the recruitment, selection, retention, promotion and assignment of personnel. Assists principal with implementation and promotion of district policy, procedures and initiatives. Submits reports to appropriate administrators as requested in a timely manner. Serves on site and/or district committees. Abides by all district, state and federal laws, policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to continuously stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to walk or move long distances from location to location around the building multiple times each day. Ability to bend, climb stairs, and lift frequently. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently. Ability to do outside duties in inclement weather.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Teacher contract (182 days) plus additional 14 days at daily rate of pay
