Job Description

Finance and Resource Coordinator Compass House - Medford, Oregon Compass House is an accredited Clubhouse International program serving adults living with mental health conditions in Southern Oregon. Through the 77-year-old evidence-based Clubhouse Model we provide a recovery-oriented, community-based environment where members and staff work side-by-side to build skills, relationships, employment opportunities, and meaningful social and community connections. This NON-clinical model of psychosocial rehabilitation improves the emotional, physical, and mental health of people who struggle with severe and persistent mental illness. Our task-oriented program builds purpose and social connectivity while providing transferable work, home, and life skills. Members receive assistance with transitional and supported employment, education, housing resources, financial literacy, social practice, and wellness. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Position Overview The Finance and Resource Coordinator plays a unique role within Compass House, combining nonprofit financial operations with hands-on member engagement, skill development, and resource support. This position helps maintain accurate organizational financial records while actively involving Clubhouse members in meaningful, real-world work that builds accounting, administrative, organizational, and workplace skills. Working side-by-side with members, the Finance and Resource Coordinator teaches and mentors members in practical nonprofit accounting activities using QuickBooks, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, budgeting, financial reporting, journal entries, and recordkeeping. Rather than simply completing these tasks independently, the Coordinator creates opportunities for members to learn, participate, develop confidence, and gain transferable skills that can support future employment and greater independence. Like all Compass House staff, this position is highly member-facing and extends beyond a traditional finance role. The Coordinator participates fully in the Clubhouse work-ordered day, helps members identify and navigate community resources, supports employment and educational goals, assists with Transitional Employment opportunities, and contributes to workshops, social activities, community partnerships, and other Clubhouse initiatives. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, approachable, and comfortable balancing detailed financial responsibilities with a highly collaborative and people-centered work environment. They should enjoy teaching others, solving problems, building relationships, and helping people recognize and develop their strengths. Knowledge of or experience with mental health services is beneficial; however, Compass House is a non-clinical program and our work does not center on diagnosis or treatment. Instead, we focus on members' strengths, talents, goals, and abilities while creating meaningful opportunities for employment, education, connection, wellness, and personal growth. We are looking for a dedicated professional who wants to build a long-term career and become an active part of the Compass House community. In return, we offer meaningful work, a supportive and collaborative team environment, opportunities for professional development, and excellent benefits. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Primary Responsibilities Maintain accurate nonprofit financial records using QuickBooks, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, budgeting support, financial reporting, and general recordkeeping. Work side-by-side with Clubhouse members to teach practical accounting, financial, administrative, and organizational skills through meaningful participation in the daily work of Compass House. Engage members in the Clubhouse work-ordered day through hands-on instruction, coaching, mentoring, and collaborative work that builds confidence and transferable employment skills. Provide individualized support to members working toward employment, education, financial literacy, greater independence, and other personal goals. Assist members in identifying, accessing, and navigating community resources and services while encouraging informed decision-making and self-advocacy. Support Compass House's Transitional Employment Program through member training, job coaching, workplace support, employer communication, and absence coverage as needed. Build and maintain positive relationships with local employers, community organizations, and other partners that expand opportunities and resources for Clubhouse members. Maintain accurate member participation, program, and outcome data and assist with reports required for organizational, accreditation, and funding purposes. Participate in Clubhouse-wide programming, including workshops, employment and educational activities, social and holiday events, outreach, and other community initiatives. Model professionalism, teamwork, accountability, problem-solving, and positive workplace relationships while fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and recovery-oriented Clubhouse environment. Participate in ongoing professional development and Clubhouse training opportunities. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of QuickBooks experience required. Experience with bookkeeping, accounting, financial recordkeeping, or nonprofit financial operations strongly preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate and confidential financial records. Comfortable teaching, coaching, and working side-by-side with individuals with a wide range of skills and abilities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an approachable, collaborative working style. Ability to balance independent financial responsibilities with active participation in a highly interactive, team-based environment. Experience in mental health, behavioral health, human services, nonprofit services, or a related setting preferred but not required. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required. Successful completion of a background check required prior to employment. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Compensation and Benefits Schedule 8:00 am to 4:00 pm - Monday through Friday Benefits Health, dental, and vision Insurance Generous and flexible PTO Location 37 N Ivy Street, Medford
