THE POSITION
As a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, you will support important services that benefit veterans and their families. The work is steady, organized, and essential to keeping admissions and office functions running smoothly. You will be part of a team that values reliability and careful attention to detail. This role helps you build strong administrative experience while contributing to a meaningful mission.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role supports admissions, office operations, and customer service for the Bureau of Veterans Homes. It focuses on accurate processing, clear communication, and dependable administrative support. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
Admissions Processing:
Review admission applications, verify eligibility, confirm documentation, and complete background checks
Data Support:
Extract and format admissions information from AIM and other systems to assist with projects and reporting
Office Coordination:
Handle scheduling, meeting minutes, mail distribution, supply ordering, filing, and travel arrangements
Customer Assistance:
Respond to callers and visitors by providing updates, directing inquiries, and supporting general information needs
Record Management:
Scan and upload documents, maintain denial files, and prepare packets and letters for leadership review Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description .
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Graduation from high school; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
Must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap. Must maintain an Automated Installation Entry (AIE) card once it is issued. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
Be willing and able to work in Lebanon County, PA
Completion of a high school business curriculum
Experience in office work, such as typing, data entry, filing, and proofreading
Experience providing administrative support
Experience working in a long-term care or large healthcare facility
Experience analyzing information and developing reports that assist in management of the organization
Experience working with Microsoft Excel to generate metrics, manage and format data, etc.
