Temporary General Description/Position Purpose Shippensburg Summer Learning Program (SLP) - Program Associate Position The Shippensburg Summer Learning Program (SLP) is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for children in the Shippensburg community who have completed grades K-11. The program provides meals and engaging activities Monday through Friday, from June 15, 2026, through August 7, 2026 (excluding Independence Day observed on July 3, 2026). Program hours are 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m., followed by structured programming-including games, crafts, and enrichment activities-from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 12:00 p.m. Lunch is served around 11:30 a.m. The Program Associate supports the daily operations of the program under the supervision of the SLP Director. Responsibilities include assisting with activities, supporting behavior management, and helping with meal service. Employees with children who have completed grades K-11 are welcome to have them attend the program. For more information about the program, please visit: https://www.shipresources.org/summer-program Program Associate Responsibilities Assist with the facilitation of daily activities Support daily setup and cleanup Implement and support the program's behavior management plan Maintain regular communication with the Program Director Perform additional duties as needed to support program implementation Participate in weekly Friday field trips (hours may extend beyond 1:00 p.m. depending on the trip) Minimum Qualifications High school diploma required Experience working with children preferred Demonstrates responsibility, reliability, and assertiveness Ability to obtain and provide current clearances (Criminal Background, Child Abuse, FBI) First Aid/CPR/AED certification required (training will be provided if needed) Completion of online Mandated Reporter training Additional training opportunities may be provided by
