Job Description

Administrative Assistant IV - Public Works Town of Centreville, Maryland The Town of Centreville is seeking a highly organized, customer-focused professional to serve as Administrative Assistant IV in the Public Works Department. This full-time position provides advanced administrative and confidential support to the Director of Public Works while coordinating departmental operations, budgets, records management, employee training, recruitment activities, meetings, and special projects. Key Responsibilities Provide executive-level administrative support to the Director of Public Works. Coordinate calendars, meetings, agendas, and prepare meeting minutes. Assist with departmental budget administration, purchasing, and financial reconciliations. Coordinate employee training, certifications, DOT physicals, and compliance records. Support recruitment activities to include scheduling interviews. Maintain departmental records in accordance with records retention requirements. Coordinate conferences, travel, community events, and special projects. Deliver exceptional customer service to residents, contractors, vendors, and employees. Qualifications Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Office Management, or a related field required. Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible administrative experience, preferably in local government or public works. Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams). Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Schedule Full-time, 40 hours per week Monday through Friday, regular business hours On-site position (not remote) Must be available to work occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency response assignments as needed.
