Bilingual Parent Liaison Wage/Hour Status:

Summary:
The primary purposeis to communicate information to staff, parents, students, the public, and other districts, in English or Spanish as needed, and to provide clerical support to administrative staff.
Qualifications/Minimum Education/Certification:
High School diploma or equivalent Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish language
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Effective organization, communication, and interpersonal skills Knowledge of District organization and operations Proficient in software applications Ability to operate office equipment
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Respond to inquiries of staff, parents, students, and the public to provide information and/or direct to appropriate personnel as may be required. Prepare written materials to convey information regarding school and/or District activities and procedures, in English and/or Spanish. Serve as liaison between the campus and parents/families. Provide assistance in delivering training to the parents of the community as appropriate. Provide information to parents/families in order to improve campus and home communication. Assist with conducting home visits to parents as appropriate. Maintain portfolio of all major activities, including sign in sheets and photographs. Serve as a resource to parents regarding available community services. Make personal contact with parents to encourage and promote parental engagement. Receive and direct incoming calls, take reliable messages and route to appropriate staff. Greet and direct campus visitors. Compose documents to communicate information to school and District personnel. Assist parents in checking students in and out of school. Maintain current knowledge of and adhere to campus security procedures. Maintain current knowledge of Student Handbook to assist students and parents. Provide clerical support to assigned administrative personnel as needed. Assist with receipt and distribution of student materials, including homework requests. Maintain visitor log and issue visitor passes. Assist with preparation and distribution of campus materials. Receive, sort, and distribute mail, documents, and other deliveries. Attend campus and community meetings as needed. Participate in meetings and training sessions as designed by District staff, including professional development activities specifically related to providing services to parents and the community. Assist in campus duty assignments as required. Maintain confidentiality. Regular and consistent attendance. All other duties as assigned.
Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Demonstrate patience and flexibility in changing job demands and when interacting with parents, staff, students, visitors, and the public, including working with frequent interruptions. Continuous sitting.
