PRIMARY PURPOSE
Assist the educational diagnostician, speech/language pathologist, counselors and collaborate with attendance clerk in the management of student records. Work under the general supervision of the principal.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Certification:
Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate High School Diploma or GED Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to use the computer proficiently for word processing, email, and spreadsheets. Ability to work well with children with disabilities Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously Ability to work independently
Bilingual Preferred Minimum Experience :
Experience in a clerical position
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Perform MTSS, 504, and special education records management including preparing and maintaining accurate, timely and complete documents Maintain confidentiality and physical security of student records Create initial student cumulative folders. Transfer and request student cumulative records as students enter/withdraw within and outside the district and manage all TREx processes Serve as a "back-up" to the Data Processing/Attendance Clerk through comprehensive cross-training Ensure access to student records is FERPA compliant. Maintain student records access log to student data Remain informed of and comply with state, district, and school policies and regulations concerning primary job functions Receive incoming calls and take reliable messages as needed Assist diagnostician and/or SLP in maintaining, copying, transferring confidential folders as required Perform other duties that enhance the safety, security, and instructional needs of the campus as requested Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned Work with staff to schedule MTSS, 504, and ARD meetings Mail information to parents in a timely manner Distribute information to school staff Maintain a roster of students who receive special education and 504 services Enter and maintain information into the special education data management system as required Other duties as assigned by the principal
WORKING CONDITIONS
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Frequent in-district and occasional in-state or national travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
Safety:
Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidents immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
