Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a City Secretary Trainee and embark on a comprehensive learning journey into municipal administration and office management. As a City Secretary Trainee, you'll gain hands-on experience working closely with city officials, handling administrative tasks, and supporting community engagement efforts. This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to grow their career in local government while making a positive impact on the community. Previous government experience a plus. Upon completion of training period and certification you will be the City Secretary. Duties Manage, oversee and direct daily city operations, including court clerk, and maintenance workers Understanding of and possess ability to prepare financial statements and related reports, including budgets and audits Handle all aspects of accounting, including banking, and tax collection Prepare City Council meeting documents and agendas, take meeting minutes Maintain ordinances and all official records File all required reporting with state and county Prepare paperwork for auctions Release impounded vehicles Customer service assistance, in person and with correspondance Maintain city website Ability to assist in city planning and development Must be proficient in Quickbooks, MS Office and Excel Excellent computer literacy with the ability to quickly adapt to new software tools Bilingual skills are highly desirable to effectively communicate with diverse community members Strong phone etiquette and customer service skills to handle inquiries professionally and courteously Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently Self Starter High school diploma or equivalent required; pursuing higher education in public administration or related fields is advantageous
