To Be Determined Job Description Secondary Secretary / Library Coordinator Position Overview Overton Independent School District is seeking a highly organized, personable, and student-centered individual to serve in a dual-role position supporting both our secondary campus administration and district library program. This is an 11-month position that reports directly to the Secondary Principal. This position combines secretarial support for the Secondary Principal with responsibilities related to the daily operation and organization of the secondary library. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with students and staff, possess strong organizational and communication skills, and help create a welcoming, efficient, and resource-rich learning environment. Overton ISD partners with Region 7 Education Service Center as our librarian of record. The employee in this position will work closely with Region 7 ESC staff to help maintain library organization, compliance, inventory, and student access to high-quality resources and services. Primary Responsibilities Administrative / Secretarial Support Provide clerical and administrative support to the Secondary Principal Assist with campus communication, correspondence, scheduling, and organization Maintain accurate records and files Answer phones and assist students, parents, staff, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner Support campus operations and daily office functions Assist with campus events, reports, and other administrative tasks as assigned Library Program Support Assist in the daily operation and organization of the secondary library Work collaboratively with Region 7 ESC library staff to support district library services and compliance Maintain library circulation records, inventory, shelving, and processing of materials Receive, organize, repair, and prepare library materials for student use Supervise and assist students utilizing library resources Help foster a positive and engaging library environment that encourages reading, research, creativity, and lifelong learning Assist with library activities, displays, and student engagement opportunities Qualifications High school diploma required; some college preferred Previous clerical, secretarial, library, or school experience preferred Strong organizational and multitasking skills Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, parents, and the public Proficiency with computers, email, word processing, spreadsheets, and general office technology Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with campus and district staff Positive attitude and strong customer service mindset Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a school setting Preferred Characteristics The ideal candidate will: Enjoy working with students and supporting educators Be dependable, flexible, and detail-oriented Take initiative and manage multiple responsibilities effectively Help create a welcoming atmosphere for students and visitors Value literacy, learning, and student engagement Be comfortable balancing both office responsibilities and library support duties Additional Information This position plays an important role in supporting the daily operation of the secondary campus while helping ensure students and staff have access to high-quality library resources and services.
