Job Description

Serves as an administrative secretary to the Mayor, City Administrator and other city officials; manages, organizes and processes all official records of the city; supervises municipal elections; coordinates public meeting of staff, city council, boards and commissions; primary telephone contact with public and performs related work as required. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; ability to work well with others; ability to identify what information is needed by others for effective action; ability to deal in a fair and courteous manner with a variety of individuals; ability to demonstrate consideration of others regardless of ethnicity, gender, beliefs, or personal style; able to effectively record, document and process complex information in a timely manner; ability to fulfill requests or otherwise provide services, accurate information, or assistance in a courteous and timely manner; ability to present a positive image of the city; ability to safeguard sensitive or confidential information from intentional or unintentional disclosure; ability to maintain an accurate and legible reocrd of official city business; ability to organize and conduct an efficient and honest election in compliance with State Law and local ordinances; ability to set goals and accomplish same. Promote the goals of the Mayor and City Council and be a liaison between the governing body and the citizens by answering questions and being responsive to the needs of the public. Hires, trains, and evaluates cashier/clerk/office assistant and maintains effective supervisory relationship with subordinate.
Qualifications:
Detailed Duties including, but not limited to the following; Performs duties assigned by various state statutes and city ordinances, prepare for and attend all city council meetings and work sessions and keep accurate minutes of the proceedings, keep register of all bonds and bills issied by the municipality, keep a record of all caontracts of the municipality, prepare proclamations, election orders and resolutions, meet all of thelegal requirements for postion agendas, publishing legal notices, holding elections, managing the office and preservations of city records, be the general accountant of the municipality, assist in preparation and adoption of the city budget, city accounting and payroll, library accounting and payroll, Spur EDC Board accounting and record keeping, Spur Fire Penion Board accounting and record keeping, public information officer, city grant administration, administrator of municipal election, prepare monthly, quarterly and year end reports for water, wastewater and natural gas systems and notary public
