In this essential role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience from appointment scheduling to check-out. Your expertise in medical administrative support, health information management, and patient service will help streamline office operations, manage electronic health records (EHR), and facilitate smooth communication between patients and clinical staff. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality dental care while utilizing your strong organizational and computer skills. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and assist with check-in and check-out procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks Schedule appointments efficiently, manage patient flow, and coordinate with clinical staff to optimize daily operations Handle all phone communications with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and clear documentation of patient inquiries or concerns Manage patient records by accurately updating medical history, insurance information, and treatment notes in EHR systems like Athenahealth or Meditech Process medical billing and collections using HIPAA-compliant procedures; ensure accurate coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding for procedures and diagnoses Verify insurance coverage, process claims for Medicare or other health plans, and follow up on outstanding balances or documentation review requests Maintain clinic organization by filing medical records, managing electronic health records (EHR), and ensuring compliance with clinical confidentiality policies Qualifications Proven experience in a medical office setting with strong knowledge of medical terminology, health insurance processes, and EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks Familiarity with medical billing practices including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare documentation requirements Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations; bilingual abilities are a plus Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and typing skills including 10-key typing for data entry accuracy Strong organizational skills with experience managing medical records, appointment scheduling, and administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times Previous clinic or hospital experience is preferred; familiarity with EMR/EHR management tools is highly desirable Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude and professional demeanor Join our team today to be part of a dedicated healthcare environment where your skills make a real difference!
