Full Job Description Job Summary:
Considerable knowledge and understanding of architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and fire safety systems; cost estimating; project scheduling; and inspection/testing as it relates to project compliance and acceptance. Qualifications also include demonstrated ability and experience to implement capital outlay projects in accordance with the CPSM and the VUClient, ensuring workmanship and materials are of the highest quality in line with contract requirements while supporting long-term operation and maintenance needs of the physical plant. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to manage and supervise numerous design and construction projects, analyze technical problems, and recommend corrective engineering solutions based on sound engineering practices. Effective communication skills with all levels of management, support staff, professionals, employees, and external contractors/subcontractors are essential. Responsibilities include coordinating inspections to ensure effective operations and compliance with specifications and regulations. The position requires frequent statewide travel, and applicants must have or be able to obtain a valid Virginia driver's license before employment.
Preferred:
Preferred qualifications for this position include a degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A Construction and Professional Services Manual (CPSM) certificate from DEB and a Virginia Construction Contracting Officer (VCCO) Certification are required, or candidates must demonstrate the ability to obtain one within 12 months of employment.
